Create A Cleaning Plan:
Take a walk through each room and decide what area’s need to be cleaned and what doesn’t. One area in my home that I do not focus on is the kitchen. Why? because it will be in use all day. Efforts there are futile until after the holiday celebration.
The bedrooms also can be skipped. Definitely remove clutter, remove it to a deserving family. Guests will reside in the family area, dining room or kitchen. Bedrooms can be used for coats.
Detail Clean The Bathroom:
Everyone will be using this room. Start at the ceiling and work all the way around the bathroom down to the baseboards. Nothing should be missed as guests will see almost every visible area. Even the shower. Decluttering countertops gives a clean appearance.
Guests will be looking up….don’t forget the cobwebs!
Shower doors are breeze to clean with vinegar and water. A little elbow grease goes a long way.
Top Areas To Clean:
Entryway, doors, bathroom, floors, and windows. Guests will be entering the home through the entry way so polishing up this area should be on the plan.
Doors and windows are important because they need to be free from handprints or smudges. Each home will have a variety of different types of floors. Some may be tile, hardwoods, laminates, carpet and marble. Vacuuming first and get all of the dirt up from the floor and is one of the most important steps. In. Each. Room. Most guests WILL notice floors. Visit the local hardware store and see which cleaner will help shine the floors.
Shiny floors will make any home sparkle. Even if nothing else on the list gets cleaned….focus on the floors. One time a year focus on the floors and buy the special cleaner. Follow all of the directions step by step.
Get the important spots cleaned to make your home guest ready. Please leave any cleaning questions, tips or ideas in the comments.
Happy Holidays!
