Every year I try to plan something special on Valentine’s Day for the kids’. Try these Valentine’s Day movie ideas for a night of frugal family fun. They are getting older so the treat bags have changed and the sweet crafts we did are coming to an end. Movies are a favorite past time of our family, so we are going to try that next year. This year instead of games and snacks we did something new and went ice skating. It was a lot of fun. After that we came home had some sweet snacks and enjoyed a movie. Since Valentine’s Day is also my birthday we go out to eat. Next year for my movie night I am planning we will have that after dinner. Family time is important and children grow up fast. Creating this special movie night isn’t that hard.
Set Up the Seating
First set up the seating. We have a ton of blankets. No movie is complete without a warm blanket and pillow to snuggle up with while watching. Second, stuffed animals or a pet. Our pets are always joining us for our movie nights. They both have their special spots on the floor. My kids’ grab their stuffed animals on every move night.
Third turn off the lights and set up the surround sound. Nothing is better than a movie in comfort that sounds like a huge theater.
Add In Special Touches
Another Valentine’s Day movie idea tips is to make some movie tickets. Print them off and laminate for use on several movie nights. Set up the seating so that you can come around as the ticket taker and direct them.
Your kids will love the creativity and the only cost is time. Some special touches that are fun might be homemade movie signs for different movie options. Whether streaming or renting or playing a DVD setting up some posters around the room is going to make the Valentine’s Day movie night magical.
Valentine’s Day Movie Ideas
There are several movie ideas to try. Good family movies that promote happiness and love are a great theme to aim for. Here are some of our selections that we watch on our Valentine’s Day movie night.
Valentine’s Day Snacks
No movie night is complete without some tasty snacks. Popcorn and candy are always a great combo for me. My favorite Valentine’s Day candy is basinets. Popcorn comes in several flavors now, so finding a red flavored popcorn should not be hard. Cookies in heart shape are perfect for this special day. Finally, serve up the drinks in a heart punch bowl. I found mine at the Dollar Tree several years ago and we are still using it every year.
Adding in special touches for a fun Valentine’s Day makes the day so much more memorable. Some families do fun things each year like hold mystery dinners with a theme. Each year try a different movie night theme to keep it new and fun. We might even dress up like the characters for Sound of Music next year. Who knows how we will make a spin on our frugal family Valentine’s Day movie night.
