Frugal living is acquired by learning to live on less. Enjoying life and not scraping by takes a certain creativity. Frugal stay at home moms who make the decision to stay at home to take care of their kids are the ones who master this lifestyle.
Stories exist of frugal stay at home moms who choose to have fewer clothes. Stay at home moms who only buy exactly what they need. Taking care of what their family needs is important to frugal minded moms.
A luxury for me was using my dryer. My dishwasher was the next to go because it used a lot of water. I still wash dishes by hand.
Frugal living became sort of a game. I worked to find ways to save money to allow us a few of the slight luxuries two income families would enjoy. My current frugal stay at home mom life stemmed from my days of extreme frugal living.
I no longer have to dry my clothes everyday on the line, because now a few days a week is sufficient. We could re-install a dishwasher now, but I won’t. I actually like washing my dishes. See, for me getting rid of my dishwasher was frugal not only financially, but it taught me that I need to be frugal in other area’s. Time management, work, household chores. Frugality is to limited to only an income. Frugal tips apply to any place excessive habits have taken over.
Holding on to stedfast ways of saving money by turning out a light when leaving a room teaches my children to not waste. Recycling is future path to frugal living.
Frugal Saving Tips
- If you can make it don’t buy it
- Don’t use appliances before 4:00 pm
- Re-use what you don’t use
- Shut out all unused lights
- Fill up on gas when the price is down.
- Eat at home
- If it is not on sale do not buy it
- If you don’t need it don’t buy it, even if it is not on sale
- shut closet doors and don’t heat extra places.
Differences in today’s World
In today’s world, none of these frugal tips make sense. They do not make sense because everything has become replaceable. Couches, cars, electronics etc are all replaceable.
Frugal stay at home moms do not buy a new vacuum because the old one broke, they youtube how to fix it themselves. Thus, saving money on a repair man. Change is good. Knowing what to change is better.
In my personal experience, I do try to fix something before I ask for help. That is because for a long time I was broke. Only the bills were paid.
Discounts, coupons, rewards and sales all help in the effort to save money. Decluttering homes will go away if overconsumption of sale products end. We buy too much.
Frugal stay at home mom life involves less decluttering. It goes back to the tip…don’t buy if it is not needed.
Two Income Families
How many of two income families live as if they are on one income? Houses could be paid off sooner if couples lived by frugal stay at home mom tips. Double income families have many bills that could be eliminated by cutting out car expenses and eating out.
Frugal Stay At Home Moms
Stay at home moms save money and run the house. Houses can not be ran well if money is going to unnecessary places. Once it is spent, it is spent and cannot be retrieved. After my first run of being a stay at home mom I realized that it was out of necessity to get bills paid off and live debt free. The borrower will always be a slave to the lender.
Many of these tips were handed down to me. My children do not leave lights on in rooms they are not in, and we don’t need to heat closets. Shutting closet doors allows only the room to be heated. e things add up to be big expenses.
