Have you ever looked back at the end of your day and wondered “Where did it go”? I have way to many times. Frugal moms are mostly organized, thrifty, and good at time management. Realizing very quick that I could not categorize myself as a frugal mom because time management is my downfall.
As I glanced back through my day I would notice either a lot of driving time, playing time, or wasted time. Now I don’t mean everything should be chop, chop right on time but housework should be done and there should be a window of time to play with the kids. Everything in place….just like my home. I am borderline OCD when it comes to my home. Why not my time?
It is very frustrating to wake up the next day to last night’s dishes. I always feel behind when that happens. Just like my bank account I need my previous night to be reconciled and balanced before I start the next’s days work. Time management has always been the one habit I cannot create. A plan was needed. Here is where I started.
I made a list: TIME MANAGEMENT
*Make a schedule
*Write down needed activities
*Be routine
Well, I have a schedule, and I know what activities need to be done each day, I just lack the motivation to be routine. That is going to take practice. And motivation. I don’t think either will happen if I do not implement a routine, and implementation means motivation. To fully change the desire to have good time management needs to be present.
So, this school year I have one goal in mind: bedtime routine. But not just a bedtime routine I need a time for the bedtime routine. This habit of time management needs to happen. Starting at 11:00 pm I DO not want to do a routine. My new schedule will show that my bedtime routine will start at 9:30. My time management should greatly improve from this change.
They always say the first step is to recognize the problem. Dr. Phil says “You can’t fix what you don’t acknowledge” ( I have heard him say this a time or two. Lately there is not time to watch tv because I am working on my time management and hobbies *smile*). I acknowledge that I need to create in myself good time management skills so that my family will have a clean home, a scheduled homeschool times and no dishes to do the next morning!
