Every year I save our summer bucket list. Taking time to highlight what we liked and cross off the disliked activities. Planning our summer bucket list is mixing last year with this year. I sit down with the boys’ to make out ur current bucket list. In the discussion, there is always an abundance of ideas. Crazy ideas hit the list, and water balloons and activities are revived. Boys’ never get tired of fun in the water.
One of our favorite parks has a pool with a diving board, and water slide. When we arrive, at the pool they go straight to the diving board. Water slides, diving boards and pools offer an abundance of fun. One of the best ways’ to save is to buy a pool membership at the very beginning of summer. This way visits are unlimited and you make the most of the money spent. If you buy it, then use it.
Here are four ways we incorporate some water activities into our summer bucket list at home. The cost is nominal, and I buy the balloons at the dollar tree. Our water bombs were free. The other slides are one’s we have had since 2020. Making something last is the best handed down frugal advice I know exists.
Summer Bucket List Water Balloons
How many ways can you enjoy water balloons? A lot of different ways for boys. Part of the fun is filling up the balloons. A concerted team effort is involved, and that is what I want. I hand them a package of balloons and ask them to fill them up. All of them. So they do, and in the process have some fun.
Water balloons teach my sons’ teamwork. Someone turns the hose on, another one fills the balloon with water, and finally one of them ties the balloon. Occasionally the balloon breaks, and the person filling the balloons gets wet. It happens. Part of the fun is watching them work together. For me, I enjoy the fact that this activity cost me very little.
Water Bombs To Keep Cool
Next is our water bombs. Grab a five gallon bucket and fill it full with water. After that have several packets of water bombs ready to be filled. They are something like balloons but are reusable.
War strategies emerge as the boys navigate a hide and seek game with the reusable water bombs. Most interesting is who wins, who hides and who stays dry. Learning to play together it’s important and a great life skill. Especially for siblings.
Water Fun Slip And Slide
Our slip and slide is very large. I bought it in 2020 when most of the world was still in shut down mode. My goal was to make sure the kids’ still had a fun summer. Every year since then, we pull it out and they use it. In the fall, it is cleaned off well and winterized.
The extra large slip and slide is a great investment. Our family does not regret buying it. If you want something that will last for years this is it. My boys’ use it and love it.
Backyard Water Slide
Finally our next good investment was the blow up water slide. Hours of fun on this slide is inevitable. First, the slide inflates quickly. Second, the backyard water slide is easily filled like a pool. No chemicals involved. Third, our of fun is provided and it is durable. Grab one so that your kids can enjoy a day of fun.
Lastly, this slide is great because it packs up so easily. Great for birthday parties, summer events, inviting over neighbors and more. Endless ideas come from this one water slide. Again, it stores nicely for winter.
Finding affordable activities for the summer bucket list is not easy. Therefore, incorporate old activities that work well and try new ones. Having fun doesn’t have to cost a lot. The real investment is time.

Razor’s are so much fun all year long. Wear them to the park and anywhere else you want to roll! My sons’ have had these for several years’ and they are still a hit. My favorite part is the fact they grow with their feet!
